Or if the current directory is already in your $PATHīasically feeds the lines of the file one by one into the shell interpreter. "running" a given executable(*) file (containing #!/bin/bash as the first line) via the shell command line, for example the extension (or even presence thereof) does not change how the program is run by the shell. in fact, there doesn't even have to be an extension at all.Ĭan all be executables and can all do the same things. In the context of linux used from the command line, the "extension" on the filename does not denote anything special. Happy to guide and provide examples of what I know. If anyone is interested in learning Splat…PM or email me.
BOOTABLE LINUX FLDIGI MANUAL
Little confusing to get off the ground with though (took me about a month of reading through the manual to really get the hang of it and I still barely even scratch what it is capable of). It's essentially a better featured, simpler (because it's all command line based), quicker to render version of radio mobile. I find I do so much stuff in terminal…I don't look too hard at the GUI's much anymore.Ī real interesting program to use is called Splat (google: splat rf).
BOOTABLE LINUX FLDIGI DRIVERS
I've only been able to get the Cedarview graphics drivers in 12.04 (I haven't tried 13.04 to see if there in there yet). Mine has a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom, 1 GB of fixed memory, and a 64 GB SSD (had to take the entire computer apart to perform that swap). I finally settled on Xubuntu 12.04 for my Asus netbook (it never booted into Windows, I wiped the drive the day I bought it). I like Mint's Cinnamon desktop from Mint 14+ (13 was LTS). Personally, I'd stick only with the LTS versions of Ubuntu based distros (Ubuntu has nearly all of the Debian sources and is very similar to Debian). RX only I-Gate running off a RTL dongle (not very frequency stable). I'm currently running a program called pymultimonaprs on my Ubuntu 12.04 server. # Individual apt-gets so lines may be commented out # Make sure your system is up to date before we start
BOOTABLE LINUX FLDIGI INSTALL
# The purpose of this script is to install my most common programs after a Right click the file icon on the desktop after you have saved it and check the "mark as executable". If anyone has any tips for this setup it will be appreciated!Ĭopy and paste this into a text file. Flrig will see the cat cable on the port drop down menu but when I select it and hit initialize the port setting reverts to none. I can RX and TX it seems but I don't have cat control with fldigi or flrig. I have Fldigi up and running, (signallink and Yaesu 857d). I installed the updates and programs GCW posted in this thread, no problems with that. I want to thank everyone that posted here for the help! I have Xubuntu installed to dual boot on the netbook. If you or others can point the direction I will appreciate it. I mainly want to run from a flash drive for a while before installing to the hard drive. In another post you mentioned a few Linux versions to try but I don't remember which. This will be mainly ham related use, I don't want or need a bunch of bells or whistles. I have a Acer Netbook I'm wanting to try Linux on.
